Last October, on the 5th and 6th, a Goodwood slot festival was held again at the Club Costablanca. This event was recovered after a forced hiatus in 2023 due to the hard work involved in changing the speed track.
In 2024, the event returned with its batteries charged, and it did not disappoint.
In short, these were the programmed events; we are quite sure that all the unconditional fans of this hobby ended up satisfied.
- Rally Legends based on group B slot models, with handicap application, to match performance and thus promote an eye-catching parc fermé.
- Endurance race on the speed track
- Concours d’Elegance
- Flea market
The Rally Legends event, as stated above, was based on a very simple recipe. Variable ballast application according to the model, in order to match performance, and thus be able to recreate more faithfully, the tooth-and-nail fights that their big 1:1 scale brothers carried in their day. As we can see in the photos, we enjoyed all kinds of machinery: Ferrari 308 in 1/24 scale, Opel Manta, Peugeot 205 T16, Ford RS200, Renault 5 Turbo, Audi Quattro, BMW M1, Lancia Delta S4, MG Metro 6R4….. And also all of them in full mechanical faculties as was seen during the course of the rally. This was also helped by the 5 special stages designed for the event, which delighted everyone.

The endurance race, the next event, consisted of the participation of several teams of 2 drivers with the mission of seeing who was the fastest. The philosophy of this test was that in each lane there was a different car model (all of them Scaleauto type RS, that is, ideal Ready-To-Race cars for this occasion). The voltage was limited to 10 volts -if I remember correctly-, so that the risk of desloting was significantly reduced, so that everyone enjoyed and got closer, matching the regulars in speed with the less skilled in this discipline.

The next day, Sunday 6, the concours d’elegance was held. Collections were brought together that for an enthusiast like me, made me enjoy every minute with the variety of pieces, and with the stories corresponding to each of these cars excellently told by each of the protagonists. One of the few rules that applied in this contest was that each collection had to present 6 cars, no more and no less. And of course, all this accompanied by an attitude of «etiquette» in terms of education, good manners, historical rigor and didactic character that the event deserved. In my case, I participated with a collection of victorious Lancias of which I can be proud. I came out of the trance with the introduction I made about each and every one of the models, with the approval of the staff. I made the grade, which is no small thing when you take into account that you share a squad with people of the stature of Jordi Sobrevals, David Torregrosa, José Miguel Casero, Pedro Vives, Pedro Abuja, Sam Blueslot, Abel Quiles, Fede Chazarra, Santi Ñapaslot, Dani del Toro, or Javier Iniesta, who had to be absent but in whose collection I could appreciate a Maserati Birdcage that would have delighted everyone. The photos speak for themselves. Enjoy:

And in parallel to the concours d’elegance, the usual flea market took place, from which the vast majority of us left with something in our hands :0)

Our good friend Santi Ñapaslot shared on Youtube a video summary of the event, which is well worth sharing in this post, to give an idea of the good vibes that were experienced during the event.
In short, a wonderful weekend. Highly recommended if you like slot cars.
And I have no doubt. In the next edition, as we say here in Spain: more and better!
Thanks for reading!
