Dear reader, in the world of slot cars, we are victims of the pressing present (whether consciously or unconsciously). The cycles of this hobby would make fashion collections pale in comparison, which big brands face season after season.

The new releases in the world of slot cars are similar in many ways to the fashion runways of Paris and London. Every new collection pushes last season’s fashion into oblivion.

And, with all due differences between these worlds, many of these cars are set aside over the years, mainly due to those pesky regulations that push them into forgetfulness. These are cars that we’re going to show could still provide a lot of fun and entertainment. And, why not say it, even give a hard time to more than one new GT fresh off the assembly line.

Enjoy the videos we’ve included as examples of each of these cars, showing that they have more than just the ability to run on the track.

Many thanks in advance to my club colleague, David Quiles, without whom this session would not have been possible.

TOYOTA SUPRA (Ninco)

A real gem from my friend David. The model you see here runs on a Miniracing Studios chassis, the well-known Scaleauto rt3 cradle, 11b motor. Enough for a crazy pace.

NISSAN 350 Z (Ninco)

Another David’s beast. Not as temperamental as the Supra, but capable of fighting back. You can roughly see the Miniracing Studios chassis, gray cradle from slot.it (offset 0.5). Another fast Japanese car.

ASTON MARTIN DB9 (SCX)

Scalextric Aston Martin. Another example with which David has shown his know-how. Fast and efficient. Equipped with Monza wheels, Miniracing chassis, white Slot.it cradle (offset -1.0), and the eternal 11b motor. A true missile. Watch out for it.

FERRARI 550 (SCX)

One of my contributions to this contest. Miniracing chassis, black slot.it motor mount(offset 0.0), slot.it’s Flat-6 motor. Another fun one. A touch of suspension has given it the final setting. A pleasant surprise.

MASERATI MC12 (Superslot)

My second contribution to this contest. In this case, thanks to the expertise of Miguel Fortes (Slot Circuits), I was able to get one of his legendary fiberglass chassis to turn a charming toy like this Superslot Maserati MC12 into a machine capable of performing on the track. The Scaleauto RT3 motor mount and a Sloting Speed 3 motor do the rest.

AUDI A5 DTM (SCX)

Another gem from my friend David Quiles. Yes, what you see together with the Miniracing Studios chassis is a Black Arrow cradle. Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. 11b engine, and a real locomotive pace on the track. Unstoppable.

CONCLUSION: After enjoying both driving and testing these cars on the track, it’s easy to end this report with this cliché, but I just can’t come up with any other sentence than this: OLD ROCKERS NEVER DIE. OH YEAH!

Here we leave a photo gallery with somewhat ‘fake’ action shots, but they serve to highlight the charisma of these beasts on the track. Enjoy the shots.

Thanks for reading, and see you in the next article!
